My name is Elizabeth Rector and I am so excited to join the Renaissance crew! I have such a passion for teaching art and I cannot wait to lead my students on endless visual arts adventures. In the past, I have taught acrylic and oil painting, watercolor, drawing, Prismacolor pencil techniques, wood burning, digital art, sculpture, art history, ceramics and graphic design. I am also a certified English teacher and have taught high school English and SAT prep courses in Houston.
I was born in Littleton, but moved away from Colorado as a three-year-old. I grew up in Pennsylvania (where my family is originally from) and Texas, graduating in 2012 from Texas Christian University where I majored in Advertising/PR and minored in Art. I was also the Head Cartoonist for The Skiff at TCU during my time there. Upon realizing that education was my true passion, I changed careers from advertising, and taught English and then art in Katy, TX, before moving back to Colorado in 2016 with my now retired parents.
I am an only child and I have a dog (a Schnoodle) named Parker, and a cat named Jet. In my spare time, I can typically be found creating art of my own and working on commissioned pieces. I also enjoy cooking & baking, horseback riding, golf, swimming, doing nerdy things like going to Comicon, and pretending that I'm still good at basketball and volleyball. Growing up, I attended the largest high school in the state of Texas, SLHS, which can house four thousand students. It was, and still is, a fantastic school in a wonderful district. Though, being one of so many has really made me appreciate the unique, practical, and innovative way in which Renaissance approaches education. I cannot wait to meet students, faculty, and parents, and embark on this school year together!
