I’m Becka Hendricks, the new 8th Grade Math teacher. I am so excited to join the team! I am coming to you from a year abroad in Costa Rica, but before that I taught in Denver Public Schools and in a middle school in Louisville, Kentucky. I have 14 years of experience in teaching all age ranges from 6th grade to adults.
I live with my boyfriend and our rescue dog, Montana. We are currently transitioning back to life in the United States, so I’m looking forward to getting back to some of my favorite activities: skiing, climbing, and yoga. I also love to run, hike, and go on camping trips. In general, I am a very active person, love adventure and am a life-long learner.
I strongly believe that learning should be fun, so I try to infuse a lot of choice, creativity, and real-connections into my lessons. I also believe in the power of a growth mindset, and making mistakes is where we learn the most. I find a lot of value in working together, so expect to be working in cooperative groups from time to time. I have a lot of experience with struggling learners, so I have a lot of tools in my teaching tool chest. I'm willing to bet that over the school year I can get you to like math at least a little bit more than you already do, and I’m so looking forward to it!
