High School Social Studies

Hello, Renaissance community, I am so excited to be a part of the RSS Crew! My name is Jackie Bradley and I’ll be teaching High School Social Studies. While my academic interests span across all the social sciences, my true passion is becoming a part of and contributing to an inclusive, caring, enriching, and exciting school culture! My fundamental belief is that in our school community everyone is welcome and being your authentic, amazing self should be embraced and encouraged. I am new to RSS this year, but my excitement about the Renaissance community has been growing for many years.

My father was in the Air Force so I moved around a few times as a young child, but since we settled in Colorado Springs I have always considered Colorado to be home. I graduated with a BA in Psychology and Secondary Education from the University of Colorado-Boulder (Go Buffs!) and immediately started my teaching career at Legacy High School in Broomfield. I spent nine years mainly teaching an integrated American Studies course and Student Government. Outside of the classroom I taught student leadership within the Denver metro area as well as at the state level. Bringing students together to find solutions to issues and to empower students to create the kinds of culture they want at their schools has always been inspiring to me! During my time at Legacy I took a year off to finish my Masters Degree in Instruction and Curriculum on campus at CU and going back as a full-time student was thrilling! I consider myself a lifelong learner and find so much enjoyment in a classroom-as teacher and as student. Eventually, my husband and I moved down to Castle Rock to be closer to his job as we started our family and I resigned my teaching position to spend time at home.

When we moved to Castle Rock I stumbled upon Renaissance Elementary and I was blown away with how in sync their values were to ours. I currently serve as the Secretary for the Renaissance Elementary parent organization. Over the years I watched RSS come into existence and hoped to one day become a part of this community. My husband and I have three children, two who are at Renaissance Elementary and a little one who will be there in another year. My family and I are outdoor enthusiasts and we love to hike, ski, camp, and enjoy all that our beautiful area has to offer us. Other than that I can throw some wicked dance parties! :) I can’t wait to get to know you all!
