Middle School Math

I have been teaching 8th-grade math at Renaissance Secondary for three years, working with
outstanding students and talented staff. I aim to help my students explore and conquer math concepts and perhaps even discover their passion for math.

In 2019, I graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering. I began my career as a propulsion design engineer, contributing to the launch of spacecraft. However, after a few years, I realized I was not fulfilled. Motivated by a desire to help alleviate the teacher shortage and share my passion for math, I decided to transition to teaching. As a former engineer, I bring firsthand experience with advanced math applications and real-world insights to the curriculum.

Despite the challenges, the rewards of teaching have been limitless. I believe in lifelong learning and continuously research inclusive teaching strategies to make abstract math concepts accessible to ALL students through real-life examples and fun projects. As their teacher, I inspire my students to dream big and work hard to realize their dreams.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, and raised in Washington, I grew up in a Park Ranger family, spending weekends hiking and camping. I have traveled extensively in the U.S. and Europe and attended schools in Germany. These experiences have enriched my life and helped me promote a global perspective to my students, encouraging them to see themselves as members of a worldwide community.
