Head of School
Amy's background in business and education, coupled with her passionate belief in Expeditionary Learning and Adventure Education experiences led her to become a Founder of Renaissance Secondary School. Amy has been involved with the school since its inception, including contributing countless volunteer hours toward the proposal and application process by which the school was created and, most recently, having served on the volunteer Board of Directors until she was appointed as Executive Director in 2018.
Amy has spent significant time in the fields of Business and Education and brings a wealth of skills from both areas to Renaissance. She taught in both Baltimore and Denver schools, and has run several successful companies.
In addition to her teaching and business experience, she served as a school site coordinator for Teach for America. She was a long-time member of the School Accountability Committee and Parent-teacher organization at Renaissance Elementary School, having served as the President of both organizations over the course of several years. Amy has also volunteered her service as a Director for local government and homeowner's association Boards.
Amy holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Colorado, with an emphasis on Psychology, Biology, and Neuroscience.
