My name is Kyle Kontour. I was born and raised in Western Colorado, but also lived in New Zealand for six years, where I met my wife. I have been in education for over twenty years, mostly at the tertiary level, but in addition to my scholastic experiences I have worked as a bale bucker, knife salesman, under-skilled handyman, office clerk, and film promotion intern. I also spent many years as a stay-at-home dad to my three kids (now aged 14, 12, and 10) while teaching and working on my doctoral dissertation, which was a case study of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
In addition to enjoying the great outdoors, I like to watch sports (go Broncos!), read sci-fi, fantasy, and non-fiction, and tend to my yard which I'm gradually turning into a permaculture food forest (not easy to do in our Front Range climate in the 'burbs!). In truth, though, I spend most of my free time futzing around on the internet, where I feed my curiosity about all manner of things--something I very much love to share with students, friends, family, colleagues, and sometimes random passerby.
