High School Science

With over 20 years of teaching experience across the U.S. and internationally, I bring a dynamic, interdisciplinary approach to science education. I currently teach Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Environmental Science, Entomology, and Yoga here at Renaissance Secondary School. My teaching philosophy centers on empowering students through project-based learning that connects scientific concepts to real-world issues. Whether guiding students in water quality research, developing a digital field guide to local ecosystems, or researching human health and wellness, I strive to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

I hold a Master’s degree in Entomology & Nematology from the University of Florida, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and a B.A. in Anthropology. I am a certified educator and an active member of professional organizations including the Entomological Society of America and the National Association of Biology Teachers.

Outside the classroom, I’ve contributed to environmental education initiatives, collaborated with research teams in the Great Smoky Mountains and the Army Corps of Engineers, and developed original high school science curricula. I believe in the power of education to inspire stewardship, innovation, and meaningful community engagement. I am so excited to continue my teaching adventure at Renaissance for the 2025-2026 school year!
