Learning Guide

Hello Renaissance Family,

My name is Marlynn Hammond. I’ve been part of the Renaissance Crew since 2021. I hold a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University. I love being a teacher.  It has provided me with so many memorable and rewarding experiences over the years. These experiences have affirmed the belief I hold that all children are special and unique. Every child has something valuable to contribute to their community and to the world. My goal as a teacher has always been to guide students through the learning process sometimes by leading and sometimes by following their lead so that through their hard work and at times struggle, students have those “Aha” moments that motivate them to want to learn more.

My experience in education has spanned 25+ years.  Most of those years were spent teaching math in grades 5-8. However a few years ago I began feeling drawn to work with students who have unique learning needs. I followed my heart and transitioned to Special Education. I’m so excited to be supporting and empowering students in my role as a learning guide at the high school this year.

I’m a Hoosier, but I have to admit it’s been pretty incredible living in Colorado the past few years! My husband and I have 3 wonderful children and 4 beautiful grandchildren. We can't wait to welcome our 5th grandchild in November.  When I have free time, I enjoy swimming at the rec center, biking, listening to podcasts and music, reading non-fiction, and learning about all sorts of new things.  I love gardening, traveling, being in or by the ocean, and spending time with family and friends. On my bucket list is a biking adventure through Tuscany, seeing Andrea Bocelli live in concert, and learning to scuba dive.

I look forward to another great year with the Renaissance Crew!
