Facility Manager

Hello Friends!

I have been involved with Renaissance since it was planning meetings in a restaurant, and I am grateful to now serve as the Facility Manager.  We moved to Castle Rock in 2013 so our son could be at REMS, and I was a REMS and RSS parent for nine years.  I've also been an RSS board member and a REMS staff member, so my roots, and those of my kiddos, are here.

I took responsibility for my first building when I was 22 and have mostly had keys to some office building, salon, or warehouse I was managing since then.  I have eight years of professional property management experience and a certificate in Construction Management. Most recently, my family purchased Camp Rosalie, a 1930's summer camp in Bailey, and have been restoring it and renting it to church and school groups.

I have worked with youth in some capacity for over 30 years, including nine summers of camps, years of classroom teaching, pastoring, and LOTS of REMS voyages and belaying.  My own kids are now 20, 18, and 13 and have taught me a ton.  Middle-schoolers are probably my favorite, so this is a fun season.

Personally, reading Richard Louv's The Last Child in the Woods deeply impacted me, and I recommend it to every parent.  I grew up in Omaha, NE and was a show choir kid in high school (think sequined cumberbund). In proper Ron Swanson fashion, I dislike the government but love breakfast foods and wise advice.  We're going to make it a great year, because we are crew, not passengers.
