This semester-long course introduces students to the fundamentals of singing and music reading. As a performing ensemble, students learn to sing multiple parts while exploring a wide variety of musical styles, including gospel, musical theater, pop, and classical music. HS Choir
Grades 9-12
High School Choir is a performance-based ensemble where students develop vocal technique, music literacy, and ensemble skills. Students study a diverse range of styles such as gospel, musical theater, pop, and classical music, and work collaboratively to prepare for formal performances and concerts.

At Renaissance, our Music program offers students a wide range of opportunities to explore, create, and perform music. From beginner ensembles to advanced performance groups, our program supports musicians at every stage while encouraging collaboration, creativity, and cultural understanding.

Band
Symphonic Band
High School
Our premier instrumental ensemble, Symphonic Band is designed for advanced musicians with 2–3 years of playing experience or prior participation in Symphonic Band. Students tackle high school–level repertoire across a range of genres while strengthening ensemble skills, musical expression, and technical proficiency. This class is ideal for dedicated musicians ready for a rewarding musical challenge.
Beginner Band
Middle School & High School
No experience? No problem! Beginning Band is open to all students who are new to band instruments, returning after a break, or interested in learning a second instrument. Students may choose from flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or percussion. All grade levels and experience levels are welcome.
Guitar
Middle School & High School
Guitar is offered as an X-Block class, and welcomes students of all experience levels. Students learn open chords, scales, and ensemble playing while also gaining confidence performing individually for a small audience.
Concert Band
Middle School & High School
Concert Band is open to students with approximately six months to two years of experience, or those who have completed Beginning Band. This ensemble focuses on building foundational technique, improving ensemble playing, and performing accessible yet engaging repertoire in a supportive group setting.
Jazz Band
Middle School & High School
Jazz Band is an extracurricular club open to all students, whether or not they are enrolled in a band class. Students explore jazz styles, improvisation, and ensemble performance in a fun, collaborative environment. Currently Jazz Band is hosted as a before school extracurricular club.
Japanese Music
High School
Grades 9-12
Discover the power and beauty of Japanese music through the exciting art of taiko drumming. In this ensemble, students learn traditional and contemporary Japanese repertoire while developing rhythm, coordination, and ensemble performance skills. The course explores cultural traditions, group improvisation, and the energetic, physical style that makes taiko unique. No prior drumming experience is required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to create music together.
