Jan Rutty
Treasurer
Jan Rutty brings a rich and varied background to the Renaissance Secondary School Board of Directors. Before transitioning to education, she worked as a forest firefighter, a geologist and environmental specialist, and also took time to focus on raising her three children.
Her passion for school counseling emerged while volunteering in the Post Grad Center at Littleton High School, where she supported first-generation college-bound students. Inspired by that experience, Jan earned her M.A. in School Counseling from the University of Colorado Denver and joined Renaissance in 2018, serving as a school counselor until her retirement in 2025.
During her time at Renaissance, Jan was a dedicated advocate for student growth, equity, and self-discovery. She remains deeply committed to inquiry-based and project-based learning and is honored to continue serving the school community in this new role on the board.
Jan holds a B.S. in Geology from Oregon State University and an M.S. in Geology from Dartmouth College. She and her family spent time living abroad in the Middle East, fueling her lifelong love of travel. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, yoga, and exploring the outdoors.
