Jan Rutty
School Counselor
I took a circuitous route getting to Renaissance! I was a forest firefighter, a geologist/environmental specialist, and a stay-at-home mom.
When my oldest child was at Littleton High School, I volunteered in the Post Grad Center and worked with students who would be the first generation in their families to attend college. It was then I realized I had found my passion in school counseling. In 2015 I began a Master’s program in School Counseling. (It's never too late!) I feel incredibly lucky to have landed at Renaissance in the fall of 2018. I strongly believe in inquiry and project-based education, and I am eager to help Renaissance students see their own potential and find their unique best future!
I have a B.S. in Geology from Oregon State, an M.S. in Geology from Dartmouth College, and an M.A. in School Counseling from CU Denver. I have three children in their 20s. Our family lived in the Middle East for six years, which infected us all with the travel bug! In addition to travel, I love running (ok, walking now), hiking, reading, pilates, and yoga. And I am so excited to be at Renaissance!
