Exploring a Unified K–12 Pathway
A COMMUNITY CONVERSATION FOR REMS & RSS FAMILIES
Over the past several months, members of our community have been engaged in thoughtful conversations about the possibility of REMS and RSS coming together to form a unified K–12 pathway under the RSS charter. This exploration is grounded in a shared mission, a long-standing partnership between the two schools, and a deep desire to honor what families value most — not just for today’s students, but for future generations.
At its heart, this conversation is about stewardship: how we preserve, strengthen, and carry forward the Renaissance experience for years to come.

Why Are We Having This Conversation?
A Shared Foundation
REMS and RSS were built on the same educational philosophy and beliefs about children, learning, and community.
RSS was originally founded because families wanted to continue the REMS experience into the secondary years. From the beginning, the vision has been a connected journey — not two separate schools.
A Seamless K–12 Experience
Families consistently express the importance of stability and continuity.
A unified K–12 pathway could provide:
-
A guaranteed, mission-aligned K–12 enrollment option
-
A fully articulated EL Education experience across all grade levels
-
An enduring commitment to adventure education and Voyages
-
Long-term relationships between students, families, and staff
-
Stronger alignment of curriculum and student experience from kindergarten through graduation
This is about coherence. It is about legacy. It is about ensuring that the Renaissance journey does not pause or fracture along the way.
A Time-Sensitive Opportunity
There is currently a unique and time-sensitive opportunity to explore whether unification is both feasible and supported by our community.
Opportunities like this do not always present themselves. This moment invites us to consider whether greater stability and alignment are possible — and whether we want to pursue them together.
Rooted in Community Voice
This idea did not emerge from outside the community. It grew from family conversations.
-
No decision has been made.
-
No outcome is predetermined.
-
Community voice is guiding the process.
This is about listening, learning, and discerning together.
